IMED
The Mediterranean Institute (IMED www.imedweb.eu ), established in 1987 in Rome (Italy), is a non-profit institution. IMED has a general vocation and acts in the Euro-Mediterranean area in three strategic fields:
- economic and social development
- citizenship
- culture
Its objectives are:
- To contribute to the strengthening of civil society in the Mediterranean area, in a pluralistic and democratic way
- To contribute to a Euro-Mediterranean citizenship
- To contribute to the forging of Mediterranean identity and culture
- To contribute to the design and implementation of a policy of Euro- Mediterranean co-development
- To contribute to the establishment of a centre of Mediterranean - development within the strategic Euro-Mediterranean area.
IMED has a 20 year experience in its strategic fields and operates in the entire Euromediterranean Region through projects and programmes financed by national and international donors like European Union, World Bank, United Nations, National Governments, Public Administrations.
In EQUAL JUS project, IMED carries out the internal monitoring tasks. For this purpose, IMED has elaborated a monitoring system, questionnaires and interview grids, reports to be presented to the project coordinator. Moreover, IMED has actively contributed in elaborating the EQUAL JUS proposal for the DG Justice, Freedom and Security, harvesting and harmonizing the contribution of all partners, also giving a technical support for the application of the proposal.
One more task in charge of IMED is related to networking judges at European level on the role or viewpoint of judges or of the judiciary with respect to the protection and enforcement of rights in relation to sexual orientation and gender identity. An on-line community will be established for supporting network exchanges.
Finally, IMED is charged of the follow-up planning.

Fabrizio Paloni
Fabrizio Paloni is psychologist operating as a Project Manager and Monitoring Expert at IMED Istituto per il Mediterraneo since 2000. He has managed and monitored projects supported by EU in the Euro-Mediterranean region, especially in the fields of employment, human rights, gender and migrations, civil society and local development. He is the monitoring expert of EQUAL JUS project, charged of supporting the management of the Action through constant and specific information about the implementation of activities, focusing their efficiency, effectiveness, first impact and sustaibability after the end of EQUAL JUS.
